Upgrade LineageOS on nash

Manually upgrading LineageOS

The updater app does not support upgrades from one version of LineageOS to another, and will block installation to any update for a different version. Upgrading manually requires similar steps to installing LineageOS for the first time.

  1. Download the LineageOS install package that you’d like to install or build the package yourself.

    • Optionally, download additional application packages such as Google Apps (use the arm64 architecture).
  2. If your device isn’t already booted into recovery, use fastboot to temporarily boot a custom recovery following the steps above.

  3. (Optional, but recommended): Tap the Backup button to create a backup.

  4. Sideload the LineageOS .zip package:
    • On the device, select “Advanced”, “ADB Sideload”, then swipe to begin sideload.
    • On the host machine, sideload the package using: adb sideload filename.zip
  5. (Optional): Once more, use fastboot to temporarily boot a custom recovery following the steps outlined above and install any additional packages by choosing “Apply Update”, then “Apply from ADB”, and then sideloading the packages like you did above. The reboot is necessary on devices with A/B (seamless) system updates.

  6. (Optional): Root the device by installing the LineageOS SU Addon (use the arm64 package) or using any other method you prefer.

  7. Once installation has finished, return to the main menu, tap Reboot.
